Living Forests Program

Global Activators is developing a Living Forests Program that will bring thousands of new people to the cause of protecting the world’s precious forests — including the Amazon, the Boreal, and the ancient temperate forests in the USA and Canada. It’s an ambitious initiative that will bring together scores of people from diverse ages, cultures, backgrounds, and nationalities. Young people aged 16-24 will be the driving force of the program.

Youth Summits

We will convene a series of youth summits in Europe, North America, and in South America. At these summits, you as a participant will learn directly from Indigenous leaders, scientists, senior government representatives, and advocacy experts. There will be film screenings, dances, and performances by amazing music artists. Workshops will provide you with training in advocacy campaigning and communication skills. These summits will be fun, insightful, and highly inspirational experiences. You’ll make the life long friendships that will be the core of this international and cross-cultural alliance.

Grassroots campaigning

In the months following your participation in a youth summit, you’ll reach out to people in your spheres of influence (neighbours, friends, family, workmates, teachers, etc.). Through these in-person conversations, you’ll inform and inspire them about the Earth’s forests. Most importantly, you’ll invite them to take advocacy actions (e.g., signing petitions, writing letters, etc.), calling on governments and key corporations act urgently to protect these living treasures. Our goals include:

  • Creating advocacy campaigns in countries including the USA and Canada that will push for the passing of new laws that will ban the import of commodities including beef, soy, timber, and minerals, that are derived from deforestation and degradation of the Amazon and other global forests.

  • Launching advocacy campaigns in Canada, USA, and Europe that will build the political will to protect old growth and mature forests in these regions.

  • Creating campaigns that focus consumer pressure on corporations who are trading in goods that drive deforestation.

We aim to garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of advocacy actions. It’s going to be huge! Get involved

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
